2500 million years ago the archeic bedrock of Väisälänmäki was born. The typical mineral of the area is migmatite. The bedrock is one of the oldest in Europe.
8000 BC the continental ice melt. Only the highest top of Väisälänmäki was above the waterline surrounded by the Yoldian sea. Dwarf birches and later pines appeared.
6000 BC the Yoldian sea became Suursaimaa Lake. In Northern Savo there lived a stone-aged people who represented comb-ceramic culture. No findings in theVäisälänmäki area have been found yet.
3000 BC the lake and river system evolved into its present state. Spruce appeared and became slowly the main tree species.
500 BC – 300 the iron-aged Luukonsaari group lived in middle and eastern Finland.
1323 the prehistorical time of Savo ended in the Pähkinäsaari peace treaty.
